Beach glass Mount

The following is a variation on a theme.  If you've looked at the shell pendants, this is pretty much the same sort of thing but with an irregular piece of beach glass.  It is traced out the same way with the prongs/tabs being positioned to hold the piece in.  Since the beach glass is transparent, I cut a piece out so light could get through, it makes it glow a bit better.

To the left is a piece of beach glass I used to trace to make the above drawing. I used rubber cement as a contact adhesive to hold it down to the metal for cutting.  I added the tabs to be bent up later to hold the beach glass in place.  The circle above the piece will eventually have a hole drilled in it so a jump ring can be fitted.

This is a shot of the glass on top of the drawing just to illustrate what is going on.

The above two shots just illustrate some steps in cutting out the shape.  Just straight up cutting.

This is the whole piece with the drawing removed with the center cut out also.  It looks pretty rough right here. You can see the lines I cut into the tabs which make it easier to bend up and around the stone.  The lines here were made a little deeper yet. I just didn't take the picture.  I used a saw to start the kerf and then enlarged the slot/groove with a very thin abrasive disk.  I didn't take any pictures of the finishing process.  It's fairly straightforward, scraping, filing, sanding, and buffing.

Some final shots of the the piece buffed up and with the beach glass fitted.  It's a very easy piece to make with no soldering really required, although I soldered the jump ring shut.
